 NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED AGAIN

Grand Haven, MI –Hydrangea lovers are among the most dedicated gardeners. Hydrangeas are one of the most popular flowering shrubs because their dramatic flower displays can literally stop traffic. The difficulty with Hydrangea is choosing the best variety for your garden. Many varieties are damaged by cold winters, late frost or untimely pruning and fail to bloom. A new variety called ‘Little Lamb’ may be the answer to this dilemma. This plant tolerates the above conditions and responds faithfully, year after year with masses of delicate white blooms. As autumn approaches these lovely blooms transform to soft shades of pink. Hydrangea lovers will never be disappointed again!

“The flowers are similar to the traditional Pee Gee Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata ‘Grandiflora’), but are much smaller and form petite clusters of florets that look like little lambs dancing above the leaves,” stated hybridizer Jelena DeBelder of Belgium.  DeBelder, who recently passed away, was world famous for her Hydrangea breeding. Her most popular works included ‘Pink Diamond’ and ‘Unique’.  Jelena considered Hydrangea ‘Little Lamb’ to be very special. It is the culmination of her 40 years of breeding and she felt this was her very best hydrangea introduction.

Hydrangea, while a favorite amongst experienced gardeners, can be intimidating for beginners. ‘Little Lamb’ is a plant that can be enjoyed by newbies and professionals. It is at home from Minnesota to N. Florida. It is extremely adaptable and easy to grow but performs best when planted in full sun to partial shade and moist, well drained soil. Compared to other species of Hydrangea, pruning ‘Little Lamb’ is simple. Trim it as necessary from late fall to early spring - or don’t prune it at all. It grows to about half the size of similar varieties.  ‘Little Lamb’ is a beautiful stand alone specimen plant, or for something more dramatic plant it as a flowering hedge. This ‘Little Lamb’ has a gentle name, and a powerful impact from mid summer to frost. No matter what your level of gardening experience, this plant will reward you with years of enjoyment.
