 GHOST      Weigela florida 'Carlton' ppaf, cbraf

 

A cool weigela with dark red flowers in spring and remarkable foliage that magically starts green then turns to a ghostly, iridescent butter yellow as the summer progresses. Provides seasons of color. A good rebloomer.

It’s a great impulse plant that easily adds season long color to any garden, container or landscape.

Introduction Date: Spring ’08 to growers

Hardiness:  USDA Zone 4

Bloom Time:  Long blooming - Early Summer to frost. Heaviest bloom in spring then sporadically until frost.  

Bloom Color:  Ruby Red

 

 

Foliage Color:  Yellow-green foliage change to greenish white as the season progresses.

Size:  4-5 feet

Exposure:  Full sun to Partial shade. Does not burn

Soil: Extremely adaptable, but prefers Well-drained soils.

Pruning: Shear to shape after initial flowering. 

Watering: Medium moisture.

Wildlife: Hummingbirds & butterflies

Type: Deciduous

Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees & shrubs. Follow the label for recommended rate of application.

Uses: Shrub borders, grouping, masses, specimen and containers.
